Who Is Liable For A Heart Disease Fatality?

Heart disease includes a wide range of conditions, including coronary artery disease, infections, congenital heart disorders an arrhythmias. While the details of heart disease can differ between individuals, each type of disease has a similar outlook if left untreated: death. For this reason, doctors are supposed to be diligent about detecting potential heart problems in their patients and treating them accordingly.

Symptoms of heart disease can vary, but some of the most prominent types include:

  • Chest pain
  • Fainting
  • Numbness in limbs
  • Shortness of breath
  • Unintentional weight loss

If patients experience any of these symptoms, it is their responsibility to see a doctor right away. A medical professional will check your heart rate, go over your medical history and perform a variety of tests to detect the problem. For example, chest x-rays can give your doctor detailed images of the heart, while a blood test can detect unusually high cholesterol levels.

Tests are a necessity to determine whether a patient has heart disease. Since heart disease is so prevalent and deadly, serious analyses of a patient's symptoms are also critical. In some cases, patients are wrongly turned away without a proper diagnosis.

If a loved one is dismissed by a doctor and has a fatal heart attack, then the medical team may be charged with heart disease medical malpractice. This is due to the fact that signs of a condition are wrongly ignored. On the other hand, if a patient is advised of treatment and fails to follow orders, then the doctor can't be sued.
