NYC Construction Worker Receives $2.8 Million Settlement After Traumatic Brain Injury

A New York man was awarded $2.8 million in damages after he suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) while on the job at a Bronx construction work site. According to court records, the worker was tiling a wall in a New York City Transit Authority train station when a temporary light in the station fell onto his head. In addition to the traumatic brain injury, the man also suffered from a subdural hematoma and several herniated discs in his vertebrae near his neck. It was determined that the Bronx on-the-job accident, which occurred on 161st Street, was due to the negligence of the NYC Transit Authority and should have been prevented.

Fatal Crane Collapse: City-Fined Crane Owner Pleads Not Guilty

New York City has been fined $5,000 after refusing to turn over important documents relating to the fatal crane collapse that took place last spring in Manhattan. The Building Department documents, which include emails and equipment inspection information, are needed in the NYC wrongful death lawsuits filed by the families of two of the men killed, Donald C. Leo and Ramadan Kurtaj. The wrongful death lawsuit is against the crane company, the company's owner, the NYC Building Department, and others involved in the accident.
