Waiting for a Trial in New York City? Donald Trump Saga Proves Courts are Too Slow!

The other week, the media was going gaga over the fact that Donald Trump was called for jury duty service and he dutifully presented himself to the jury clerk to complete this age old civil duty.

"It's my duty, and I'm happy to do it," Trump said, who has been fined in the past for never showing up to court for previous summonses.

However, after a few hours, it was reported that his services were not needed and he went home.

As recounted by the New York Post: "Trump was dismissed at 3:55 p.m. along with the rest of the jury pool because court business is so slow. He doesn't have to report for a second day of service."

That would seem reasonable to the casual observer. But given the fact that we at StolzenbergCortelli LLP have multiple pending actions in Manhattan Supreme Court (or as lawyers call it New York County), that is the farthest thing from the truth.

In actuality, we have cases in which we anticipate waiting over a year for a trial once we asked for one. That's insane.

And trust me, it is not the Judges fault -- they have a tremendous case load. The fact of the matter is that we need more judges, and more court rooms and more support staff. Only then, we trials speed up.

Maybe, if Trump becomes our next president, he can help.
