Car Accident Attorney In White Plains Reports Fatal Teen Car Crash In Long Island

They don't call it the "Dead Man's Curve" for nothing-sadly, four teens lost their lives on this section of the Southern State Parkway in Long Island after the driver lost control of a car and crashed along the curve.

17-year-old Joseph Beer was driving the 2012 Subaru Imprezza that lost control on the infamous curve. Beer missed the curve and subsequently hit the shoulder along with several trees. The car eventually split in half and all five teens in the car were ejected. Beer was the only survivor of the crash.

According to police reports, Beer only had his learner's permit. In the state of New York, anyone with a learner's permit must be accompanied by a licensed driver at least 21 years old and over. All the victims in the crash were 18 years old.

Still, despite the fact that Joseph Beer only had a learner's permit, these types of accidents are all too familiar on Dead Man's Curve, and teens are the primary culprits. Due to the fact that teens tend to drive at higher speeds and late at night, the factors in the accident made the crash all the more probable. According to reports, Beer was suspected of speeding before the crash that occurred at 3:40 a.m.

It is important to raise awareness among teen drivers to prevent these types of accidents from injuring-or even killing-themselves and their peers. Other drivers should also be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious or aggressive drivers to authorities at once.
